Ikelite Underwater Camera Housing for Canon PowerShot A710 Digital Camera

This compact digital housing is molded of corrosion free clear polycarbonate, itis virtually indestructible with heavy duty walls that allow it to operate safely to 60m (200 feet). The housing provides controls for all camera functions. A flash diffuser is included to aid in improving lighting quality when the camera's built-in flash is used to illuminate subjects underwater. For optimum lighting underwater an optional DS series Substrobe is recommended. The DS Substrobes are brighter, recycle faster and offer wider coverage. Being farther from the camera lens, the optional DS Substrobe aids in reducing the illumination of particles in the water, thus helping to eliminate backscatter. Optional EV Manual Controller provides 10 power settings with any Ikelite DS SubStrobe without requiring any fiber optic "sync cord" nonsense. An optional #9523.31 Release Handle and Tray are required to attach SubStrobes. The Release Handle allows easy attachment and removal of SubStrobe mounting arms at the touch of a button. The port on the housing is threaded to accept the 67mm threaded wide-angle conversion lenses offered by Epoque and Inon.

Point and shoot cameras can provide really sharp images if you use them correctly. But for many digital images taken with a point and shoot, main subject sharpness -- or lack thereof -- is a real issue.

Most all point and shoot cameras have an auto-focus feature, which is really awesome... most of the time. The lack of sharpness problems arise during certain conditions, one of which is when trying to shoot your subject a little bit off-center. Shooting off-center is a widely-used practice that can add style, interest, and professionalism to an otherwise ordinary image. In blunt terms, shooting off-center can be A Very Good Thing.

A loose example of this is when your subject, your best friend for instance, is standing off to either side in front of a waterfall, or an old covered wagon. You'd like to capture both your friend and the background but when your photo is finished, your friend is out of focus.
That happened because the point and shoot camera's viewfinder was not placed on the most important part of your composition, which in this case was your best friend, but was instead placed on the background where it automatically focused.

Fortunately, there's a really simple work around to this problem that anyone who can hold a camera can pull off. Point and shoot cameras feature the ability to lock, or pre-lock, the focus at any point during the process of composing a photograph.

Basically, pre-locking focus means that you force your camera to focus on a specific object in the composition and remain locked on that distance until you actually snap the picture.
To pre-lock, simply place the viewfinder focus point on the desired object -- in the example above it would be your best friend -- and press the shutter halfway down. At that point you should see a green glow in the viewfinder eyepiece that signals your focus is locked (if it glows steadily, that means your focus is locked; if it winks off and on or doesn't light at all, you need to try again).

Now, keeping the shutter pressed halfway, move your camera until the exact composition you want appears in your viewfinder -- in the example above it would be when your best friend is positioned on one side or the other of the image and the waterfall or covered wagon is roughly in the center.
Next, hold your camera very steady and press the shutter the rest of the way to actually capture the shot.

No matter what composition you're going for, it's always important to be mindful of where your focus point is. Taking a moment to do so can save a good many of your photographs.

Final tip: Once your focus is locked and you're keeping the shutter pressed halfway, the focus won't change at all. If your subject moves or if you take a step forwards or backwards, your subject will not be in focus any longer and you'll need to do the whole process again.

Marie Walker runs a blog called Pictures, Words, and Ordinary Life about simple digital photography for ordinary people (read: amateurs). She often features tips and tricks for composition as well as tutorials for Adobe Photoshop that make the most of point and shoot digital photography. Customer Review: perfect gift
once you buy the casio 870 IS digital camera which is the best point and shoot camera on the market for its price, this kit has everything you need. both tripods are perfect for shooting on the go and in house pictures. the underwater case is awesome because I am going scuba diving on my honeymoon, but you can also use it in adverse weather conditions. the extra battery is always a good buy no matter what you have. there is also knick knack items that you may feel you do not need, but you will find that they are needed more than you imagine. like i said all in all, this is a perfect accessory gift.

Take a waterfall, tall and beautiful. Now visualize a small stream trickling over the edge of a few small stones. If you shoot it just right, they could almost look the same. Wait a minute you're saying, those two are as different as night and day. That's a good point, but unless you also include something to compare the water to, you have no point of reference.

There are times when photographs need something else in the image to truly appreciate what's there. For example: You hike your way into Zion National Park, and see this grand waterfall. You get close to capture all the detail, and shoot against a clear beautiful sky (so the background wont distract.) You tell all your friends about the great adventure, and eagerly await your pictures from the photo lab. When they finally come back, you flip through the shots looking for your master piece. When you finally see it, your heart sinks. It looks OK, but there is no magic, no majesty. Its just not the same.

What happened? When you saw it live, you were there. You climbed over rocks; you walked through streams, and pushed pine branches out of your way. When you looked through the view finder of your camera, these images were also in the back of your mind. The human mind is a wonderful creation; it takes images, sounds, and smells and blends them all into wonderful memories. The problem lies in the limitations of the medium. In other words, we experience in three-dimensions, we document in two-dimensions.

Remember that size is relative. Even a small mountain may seem big compared to a boulder. A boulder is big compared to a rock. A rock is big compared to a grain of sand. But even a grain of sand could appear huge if there was nothing else in the image to compare it to.

Most of us at one time or another has seen an extreme close-up of something that made us think it was something else. Why did we not recognize the item for what it was? Simply put, you had nothing to compare it to. You had no point of reference. This works in both directions, small and large. I'm a big fan of simplifying an image when you can, but there are times when you can simplify too much. Leaving a rock or a branch in the edge of the picture can often mean the difference between a nice shot and a great shot! If you want the person viewing the image to know it was huge, then you need to give them something to visually compare it to.

When you shoot your subject with things going from big to little, or even from little to big, it creates the illusion of depth. The deeper your image appears, the more three-dimensional it appears. The more three-dimensional you image appears the more likely your viewer is to experience at least part of what you did when you took the shot. After all, isnt that why you take photos to begin with? I take photos not to remind me of what happened, but to share with others who were not there. Maybe Im strange, but I believe in order for someone to get the big picture, they need to see the small details, (like having something in the picture to visually compare everything else to.)

Customer Review: Zemes misunderstood
This is a great printer for the price, and better than any others in it's price range for continuous, heavy usage in a small business environment, (like a law firm or doctor's office). Zemes wrote what appears to be a 2000 word dissertation, mostly complaining that the manual document feeder is not intuitive and that you must manually set the printer to print to special media each time. Neither is true. The printer automatically feeds from the manual document feeder if there is anything in it. When it is out, it reverts to the standard paper tray. No programming of the unit is necessary to print special media. Click "envelope wizard" in Word, or "letters and mailings" in WP, and print envelopes, etc. In short, this printer does all of the things that Zemes complains that it doesn't, so please don't let that review stop you from considering this Canon printer.
Customer Review: utstandind copier & scanner
An excellent solution for copy and scanning needs for the small and/or home office. Two pages to one, or front and back to two. Collates. Large paper supply. Reliable auto document feeding.

While there may be plenty of good reasons to buy a Canon Digital Rebel XTi, not every camera is good for every photographer. So, depending on what's important to you, and how you take pictures, you should probably be aware of the short comings of this camera. There's plenty of information out there about how great this camera is, but for just a minute or two, lets be brutally and critically honest.

The Canon Digital Rebel XTi, is guilty of underexposure in any and all lighting conditions, specifically with the auto setting turned on. Even Canon will have trouble disputing this claim. I heard from one XTi owner that went as far as to send in pictures taken from two separate XTi cameras to Canon, and ask what was wrong. All the pictures were dark and underexposed, and Canon told them, that yes the camera used to take those pictures was defective. Not realizing of course, that the pictures came from two brand new cameras. Apparently the problem is really with the auto settings. If your the type of photographer, that never uses the out of the box factory settings, then this may not be a issue for you. Otherwise just take a pass, there are plenty of other good cameras you should be considering.

The XTi has a rather annoying habit of locking up when quickly taking a consecutive number of pictures in a row. The shutter just locks up and issues a busy signal. According to Canon, this is normal and the camera is performing as designed. At first glance, this may seem like just a case of not enough battery power for the strength of the flash. But, no, it's actually the way the camera is designed to work. The XTi manual comes right out and says this is a safety feature intended to protect the flash. Again, you need to judge if this is an issue for you. If your the type that likes to fire off twenty or so pictures in a row, then this camera will likely annoy you to no end. Otherwise, this is really a non issue.

One last thing. It's pretty standard, that all digital cameras come with an LCD screen. It's pretty nice to be able to use the LCD screen while taking a picture, so the don't need to have the camera right in your face. The little point and shoot digital I bought for my daughter went so far as to eliminate the view finder altogether. Apparently that manufacturer realized using the LCD is the favorite choice of most users. With the XTi, Canon made the unusual decision to go the other way. The only way to see what picture your taking, is to use the viewfinder. The 2.5 inch LCD is very nice, you just can't use it to see what picture your currently taking. It's only used to review pictures already taken, or to adjust the camera settings. I guess they're just trying to save battery power. Who knows? Once again, it's all a case of what's important to you and how you take photos.

So, if I haven't convinced you yet not to buy a Canon Digital Rebel XTi, or you would prefer to hear some nice things about the Rebel XTi, that's fine. Here's some other nice cameras to consider. Just remember, it's always good to get a balanced opinion and then decide what is really right for you.

Customer Review: Great Camera
I am not a professional photographer by any means, but am very handy with electronics. I wanted to get a "very nice" camera, but one that I would also be able to use. I purchased this camera the day before leaving to Thailand on my honeymoon. It was great, and the pictures (about 3000 over two weeks) turned out great! It was easy to use, durable and the pictures came out crystal clear. I read the manual over the 20+ hour flight and learned a lot about the features of the camera. It was comfortable in my hands, and I even taught my technologically deficient wife how to use it once I was comfortable with it myself! The pictures from our honeymoon were applied to my slideshow screen saver on my computer and as my friends looked at them, they thought the pictures looked like post cards, and didn't believe that we took the pictures and figured that the screen saver came standard on the computer! I will say this, originally I figured that the screen would have live viewing and you would not be forced to look through the eye piece (similar to most point-and-shoot cameras of today). However, it was not as annoying as I thought, and I'm not certain if any higher end SLR cameras have this feature (or at least any under $1000). Aside from that, the camera was great, pictures were great, and it was easy to use! I'm sure that there are 100's of features I'm not sure of how to use, but if I have up to it, I'm sure that I can figure it out. The manual constantly said that it's easier to use the automatic focus options, which I did, and had no complaints! I would recommend this camera to anyone that likes to vacation, or has children in sports and wants to take great pictures. This camera is one of the most recent to come out. And I cannot wait to get a higher zoom lens and a wide angle lens for Christmas! Hope this helps to the amateurs out there!
Customer Review: Awesome for the money spent
I couldn't be happier with this awesome camera. I was tempted to buy Canon D40, but after lot of thinking I wanted to concentrate on getting more by getting better lenses. I do not think I had to sacrifice - I just had to stick with my budget and this way I was able to get awesome camera and still money left buying better lenses!!!

In this article, I'd like to give you a glimpse of what you can expect in online digital photography courses - photographing landscapes. There are many photographers in this world who seem to favor landscape photography more over any of the other types of photography.

Personally speaking, I like it when my photographs have some element of life in it, whether it be human or not, but I can still see how sweeping shots of rolling hills, toiling seas and endless skies does have an impact on the viewer. To my mind there are two distinctly different types of landscape photography around. That of the natural landscape photography, and that of the urban landscape photography.

Both have their pros and both have their cons, and its really up to the photographer and their sense of imagination to get across to us a grand scene. Be that as it may though, to get a decent landscape photography shot you dont need to travel to far and distant lands, in fact you dont even need to leave your home.

To start your landscape photography you can just take a ride on out to your back, or front yard, and have a quick go there to see how well you can make this everyday setting into something extraordinary. Of course the fun with traveling to far and distant lands to get your landscape shots is that most of the hard work has already been done for you.

The scenes have already been set to perfection and theres always going to be some really great vantage point that you can go to, to take your pictures. The trouble with going it at home is that you need to set the shot up for yourself. You need to see the good in your yard and you need to be able to translate that into something that doesnt look like your back yard.

Its not an easy task, but it is well worth the try as you open yourself up to the vast array of possibilities and you learn to think outside of the box. So the next time you go to far and distant lands you wont just be taking the same old boring shot that everyone before you has, instead youll be looking at the various possibilities to be had from different angles and how you can possibly accomplish it.

To me, thats the mark of a true photographer, the ability to see things outside of the perspective of the normal mind and to see the extraordinary.

Customer Review: Very nice printer, scanner, copier
This is a great product. It is very fast after the first few uses and it has good quality also. It scans, copies, and prints, and is very good with pictures. An all around really good product.
Customer Review: defective out of box
This is my 3rd Canon printer over the years and so far, this one has been a HUGE disappointment. Feed problems from the first alignment sheet passed through it. Both feeds jam and end up tearing the paper. The front feed doesn't print at all except for some smudges and ink smears, and the rear feed makes a loud squealing sound and jams right away. I've sent an e-mail into Canon for support and have asked for an RMA with pre-paid shipping. We'll see how their support is...

Cameta Microfiber Cleaning Cloth - 3 Pack

Under normal use, your digital camera's LCD monitor screen and optics usually become soiled with fingerprints, oily smudges and other contaminants. It can be really frustrating trying to clean the LCD monitor safely and completely without smearing using typical lens tissue or lens cloths -- especially out in the field. The Cameta Microfiber Cleaning Cloth is designed using the latest 21st Century technology to perform this task quickly, safely and easily. Without using any potentially damaging chemical treatment as some cloths do, the Cameta Microfiber Cleaning Cloth is able to magically clean virtually at a microscopic level due to its unique fabric construction and scientically advanced fiber design. It works great on all optical surfaces such as your camera's lens, viewfinder, filters and auxillary lenses as well as your eyeglasses and sunglasses. As an extra bonus, it is terrific for cleaning those inevitable and annoying fingerprints off your CD's and DVD's. On top of all this, it's re-usable. After many repeated uses, it can be washed and dried to perform just like new.

The Canon digital cameras come in different styles and with many different features. The Rebel EOS SLR models are the XSi, XTi and the XT. The EOS 35mm SLR Rebel models are the T2 and the K2. The EOS SLR Rebel XSi models come with 12.2 megapixels and image stabilizer. The three-inch viewing screen is what makes this camera different from the others. The SXi camera has a LikeView mode and imaging at 3.5 frames per second. In addition, the SXi has the integrated cleaning system. The DIGIC image processor provides for a powerful and high performance camera.

The Canon Rebel digital cameras model XTi is a superior camera with a simple to use performance. The camera has some incredible features that make this camera easy to use for beginners or professionals. The camera offers 10.1 megapixels with a two and a half inch viewing screen. The self-cleaning sensor combined with the integrated cleaning system has made this camera popular. The Rebel XT has 8 megapixels and a DIGIC II image processor. The camera is compatible with more than fifty of the EF lenses. The XT is compact and lightweight and has easy to use features from the menu display.

The Canon Rebel digital cameras also include the EOS 35mm SLR Rebel T2, with many different shooting modes and more features that make the camera a masterpiece. Canon automatic the camera and make it easy to use. The EOS 35mm SLR Rebel K2 stormed the market with easy one-handed operation and a lightweight design. The twelve different shooting modes make this camera stand out from the rest. It also is compatible with over fifty of the EF lenses. The camera does have manual and autofocus with the click of the shutter button. The Rebel K2 can be programmed for nine exposures.

While Canon is one of the best when it comes to high quality digital cameras, they're certainly not the only game in town. There are equal and better cameras around, you just need to know where to look.

If you are looking for a great aerial photography company for any reason, you need to know the difference in the many different types of aerial photography and videography that are available to you. Also, it is important to keep in mind the reason you need an aerial photographer when looking in to a job. Below are the basic types of aerial photography and videography to help you get a sense of what you need:

1. Kite Aerial Photography - This method provides a quiet atomosphere which is neighbor friendly and produces decent results. The downside to kite aerial photography is that it is reliant on the wind, which we all know how unpredictable the weather can be. Also, the amount of control the photographer has over the shot is limited.

2. Balloon Aerial Photography - Again, very quiet and still produces decent results. In this case, the wind may play a damaging factor in trying to take an accurate shot. This is ideal for non-windy and quaint neighborhoods. However, the accuracy may not be as effecient however balloon aerial photography is very affordable.

3. Helicopter Aerial Photography - Perfect for accuracy. Whether you need aerial photography or aerial videography, you can count on the accuracy that a helicopter provides. The cost can be very expensive however and the noise may make neighbors unhappy. This is better suited for large landscapes and not for residential neighborhoods.

4. Unmanned Radio Controlled Helicopter Aerial Photography and Videography - The perfect all around solution for most individuals who have aerial photography and videography needs. This type of aerial photography provides a much quieter atmosphere but still provides the dead-on accuracy that a manned helicopter provides. This option is great for real estate agencies, Vinyards, landscaping, surveying, construction, marketing needs, and just about any use available for an aerial photographer and/or aerial videographer. Also this is an extremely affordable avenue to take and can potentially save you a lot of money.

Whether you need a Portland Oregon Aerial Photography company or a San Francisco California Aerial Photography company, keep in mind your surroundings and choose based on your needs. Keep open to the many different kinds of Aerial Photography and Aerial Videography. Be sure to look for three things when choosing an aerial photographer:

1. Price - Make sure the service you are looking in to fits in to your budget. There are many of aerial photography companies out there. Make sure you get the one that fits your financial needs.

2. Quality and Accuracy - Be sure to make sure the method you choose is very accurate or your photos or video may not turn out as you would like them too.

3. Impact - When working in neighborhoods, loud noises of large machinery may cause an issue. Also large helicopters (unlike the radio-controlled ones) whip up a lot of dust and can blow over bushes. This may be unsuitable for your needs.

So be sure to look in to your options to find the aerial photography company and the aerial photographer you need.

Customer Review: Great Lens
Now I'm an amateur photographer, so I don't know much about lenses and everything, but I can tell what a good picture looks like, and this, for us, has taken many great pictures. Even fully zoomed in, pictures come out wonderful. Compared to the price for the Canon lens, this is quite a bit cheaper, but not cheap at all. We were actually surprised how heavy this lens is, especially compared to the kit lens that came with the Canon Rebel XT we purchased. I'd highly recommend this for those wanting longer distance, but also wanting to save some money.
Customer Review: Awesome for anyone who isn't a pro or semi-pro
I love this lens. Now, maybe if I was a better photographer and not one with only a year and a half worth of experience, I might change my mind. But I have taken about 300 pictures over the week I have had the lens (went on vacation) and very happy with it. Negative such as slow or tough to focus in low light hasn't been a problem. Maybe it is slow, but unless I was taking action shots, it didn't seem slow at all. And it focused well in low lights - no problems there. As I have learned about telephoto lenses, they take some adjustment. I had a lot of blurry photos at first, but slower ISO and/or increased aperture has helped me not have any problems without a tripod. Photos are crisp, colors are great. I can't think of anything negative to say. The macro setting is interesting and still figuring it out - but works well. For $140+ shipping from Cameta - how can you think there is a better deal out there.

Varta AA NiMH Digital Camera Battery 2-Pack 2700mAh

Rechargeable Photo Accu batteries utilize innovative Nickel Metal Hydride technology resulting in up to 100% more capacity than conventional Nickel-Cadmium and no "memory effect". Plus, these cells can be recharged up to 1,000 times. The 2,300 mAh capacity makes these batteries ideal for digital cameras. 2 per pack. 0% cadmium, 0% mercury.
Customer Review: They really don't last
I bought 4 packs of these AA batteries here at Amazon (8 batteries total) about 7 months ago. At first it seemed great to be able to just recharge them and keep using them. After about 2 or 3 charges I noticed that they don't last for more than a few uses on all of the electronics I used them for. For instance, I used them in my Fuji digital camera and they only last about 4 or 5 pictures (w/ flash). The regular AAs tend to last me 12 or so with the flash. In my Logitech wireless trackball, they only last a couple of weeks where the regular AAs last a couple of months. I'm now using them in my TV and VCR remotes because that's the lowest current draw I can use them for. I have AAA rechargeables by Maxell that seem to last way better in my MP3 player. It also seems to take over 6 hours to charge these batteries up. I recommend only getting a couple of these and a couple of some other brand to compare before buying in bulk.

So it's Christmas time and everybody wants to make Christmas things. Advertisers want Christmas looking photos for their amazing sells. Digital art people want photos of Santa Claus and reindeer.

Christmas stock photos can be very highly profitable for the Christmas season. The best thing about Christmas stock photos is that once you have a good collection you can expect a high demand for your photos every year during Christmas!

Whether you are a professional photographer or a beginner, you can earn some money from Christmas stock photos. The best thing is, you don't really need to set up any sets or anything for it. Simply take pictures of the decorations at your house, visit other people houses and take pictures of their decorations. Put your dog in a Christmas costume and create some stock photos of that.

If you want to be really successful taking Christmas stock photos then you can build up a collection of Christmas photos. Be sure to temporarily specialize. For example, take many pictures of dogs in costumes and specialize in that. Or specialize in stockings and such.

When you take the Christmas stock photos you will then have to submit them to micro stock photo agencies. There are many micro stock agencies you can submit to and they will all pay you when someone downloads one of your pictures.

When taking stock photos be sure that you try to make them the highest quality possible. If you don't have a lighting studio try to use diffusers or mirrors to make the light professional looking. The higher quality your images the more profitable they will be.

So when Christmas comes around take pictures but make sure that they are really good pictures. Because if they are they can be earning you money every single year during the season when everyone wants those photos.

Canon NB-3L Rechargeable Battery Pack for SD550, SD500, SD110, SD100, SD10 & SD20 Digital Cameras

Rechargeable lithium ion battery for use in select Canon cameras
Customer Review: gone fast
I bought this Canon NB-3L Rechargeable Battery Pack for my canon sd550. For this camera model, you need the 2nd battery pack because the power was gone very fast after charging it (not more than 3 times of taking pictures...i didn't mean shutter). Unlike, canon nb-5l that I have for sd 850 IS, I can take the pictures for more than 3 or 4 events at least.
Customer Review: Nothing beats original manufacturer's replacement parts
I'm not one to usually buy anything after market or knock-off, so buying anything but a Canon brand battery wasn't even an option for me. The battery charged quickly and has held a charge thru 50+ pictures and some video. This is the first replacement I bought since buying my camera in 2003, so I'm hoping to get about 3-4 years out of this battery as well - so far, so good.

Sony are of course a well know company and produce many different products in various markets. Regarding their televisions, are they any good?

Sony made the very first transistor radio in 1954 believe it or not and has been on the cutting edge with new technology ever since. It seems that wherever you go, you will see their brand name splashed on some advertising banner, in a shop window or indeed on the TV itself.

This company is the giant of the industry, offering products in just about every imaginable area of consumer electronics, being involved in entertainment and owning many recording companies, whilst also getting into film production.

Sony televisions are known the world over, and we all instantly recognize them as a tried and trusted name. They even invented the first Trinitron color television back in 1968 and have since built an esteemed reputation for one of the world's finest televisions today launching a new range of LCD TVs every eight to twelve months on average. The range of TV's is positioned towards the higher end of the market although bargains can often be found if you look hard enough on their not so new ranges.

Their HD televisions are available in many different styles and sizes from small screen models to widescreen or big screen models and yet again today, they are on the cutting edge using the latest digital display technologies.

Historically, Sony's strength has always been in having the sharpest, cleanest image quality and did you know that they are also one of the least repaired TV's year after year, certainly receiving top marks for quality control standards and long lasting TV sets.

In my opinion, Sony has the best value in HDTV, plasma, LCD and widescreen televisions. Of course, the choice ultimately is yours, but you really can't go far wrong this top brand.

John Milligan.
